  • Exceptional communication, interpersonal, and public presentation skills, with a proven ability to effectively and respectfully interact with a diverse range of stakeholders, including students, parents, teachers, administrators, and community members.
  • Proven ability to work independently with minimal supervision, exercise sound judgment, and make critical decisions in high-pressure situations.

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for all safety-related concerns, incidents, and emergencies within the school district, ensuring timely and appropriate responses and communication.
  • Continuously monitor and analyze safety trends, incident reports, and relevant data to identify areas for potential improvement in safety protocols and to make data-driven recommendations to the Superintendent and other district leadership.
  • Provide oversight and guidance to school security personnel assigned to schools within the district, ensuring their roles and responsibilities are clearly defined and aligned with best practices and district policies
  • Maintain daily communication with our School Resource Officers (SROs) to ensure an open flow of communication regarding concerns and opportunities to improve student safety.
  • Ensure the school district's full compliance with all relevant federal, state, and local laws, regulations, and mandates pertaining to school safety, security, and emergency management.
  • Monitor anonymous reporting systems and relevant social media channels (in accordance with legal and ethical guidelines) for potential threats or safety concerns, and implement appropriate follow-up procedures.
  • Other Functions

  • Attend relevant professional development and safety conferences as approved.
  • Participate in district-level committees related to crisis response and school safety.
  • Support school administrators in conducting safety drills and post-incident debriefs.
  • Assist in reviewing safety-related policies, student handbooks, and staff manuals.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Superintendent related to the safety and security of students, staff, and visitors.
  • Skills Required

  • Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and crisis management tools, with the ability to learn new systems as needed.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to foster trust and credibility with staff, students, families, and community partners.
  • Capacity to analyze and interpret data to inform safety planning and decision-making.
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure and respond quickly and effectively during emergencies.
  • Physical Requirements
