JOB SUMMARY

Repairs and maintains machinery and mechanical equipment such as engines, motors, pneumatic tools, conveyor systems, HVAC systems, machines and equipment. Repairs and maintains the physical structure and grounds of the Medical Center.

DUTIES AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Dismantles devices to gain access to and remove defective parts. Examines form and texture of parts to detect imperfections. Inspects used parts of devices and control instruments. Repairs or replaces defective parts. Installs special functional and structural parts in devices. Lubricates and cleans parts. Repairs electrical equipment. Initiates purchase order for parts and machines.

EDUCATION / LICENSE / CERTIFICATIONS / OTHER REQUIREMENTS

Minimum requirement :

High school diploma or general education degree (GED)

Current driver’s license

One-year certificate from college or technical school; or three to six months related experience and / or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

KY Journeyman’s Electrician, HVAC or Plumbing license (minimum of one license)

Preferred qualifications :

Three to six months related experience and / or training

Associate in Applied Science

WORKING ENVIRONMENT

Constantly works near moving mechanical parts.

Frequently exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals.

Frequently exposed to wet and / or humid conditions and extreme heat.

Frequently exposed to a risk of electrical shock.

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

Frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles and vibrations.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Frequently required to move about throughout the department and facility.

Frequently required to use fine motor skills to handle and operate instruments / devices.

Occasionally required to operate a computer and other equipment.

Constantly required to stand.

Frequently required to stoop, kneel, crawl, or crouch.

Frequently required to lift and / or move 50 pounds.

Occasionally required to lift and / or move 100 pounds.
