Overview
Mobile Diesel Technician Level II – 2nd Shift (3 : 00 pm - 11 : 00 pm) with Fleet Services by Cox Automotive. Veterans encouraged to apply.
Headquartered in Indianapolis, Fleet Services by Cox Automotive provides on-site mobile maintenance and repair services for light, medium, and heavy-duty trucks and trailers, and supports 50+ nationwide service centers.
Responsibilities
- Perform scheduled preventative maintenance (PM), DOT inspections, and follow-up repairs on light, medium, and heavy-duty vehicles in a mobile / field environment.
- Carry out minor adjustments and repairs on electrical, braking, cooling, engine electronics, steering, transmissions, clutches, differentials, and related systems.
- Diagnose, adjust, and repair truck equipment and systems; test using handheld computers, pressure gauges, and other instruments.
- Road test vehicles to verify repairs and ensure proper operation.
- Identify problems, evaluate information, and generate corrective actions with sound judgment.
- Independently manage parts inventory and operate the company-issued service truck; conduct periodic reconciliation.
- Maintain and operate the service truck, including safety checks and pre- / post-trip inspections.
- Communicate with clients to assess needs, provide information, resolve issues, and meet expectations.
- Prioritize concurrent tasks and manage time effectively.
- Use hand tools, precision instruments, diesel tools, welding equipment, lifts, and jacks.
- Document work according to company standards; upload RO findings, parts used, and photos using the TRAIT app on an iOS device.
- Complete DOT forms and other documentation in a timely manner.
- Work with a high degree of independence and manage daily schedule; maintain productivity within standard repair times.
- Obtain parts from approved vendors as needed for repairs.
- Coordinate with management for repair estimates, purchase orders, and RO findings.
- Perform work in compliance with safety, health, environmental policies, and federal regulations (OSHA, EPA, DOT).
Requirements
High School Diploma / GED and 3 years' related experience; or alternative combinations such as higher degree / certification or 5 years' related experience.Possess and provide a set of hand tools required to perform duties.Obtain ASE T8 (PMI) certification within 18 months.Must be able to pass a DOT-regulated pre-employment background screening and DOT physical.Current valid DOT medical card with expiration >4 months may be submitted in lieu of a DOT physical; if =4 months, a DOT physical is required.
Must be at least 21 years old due to interstate operations; valid driver's license and ability to maintain Driver Qualification File.Certifications
