Summary :
Join our dedicated team as a Clinical Laboratory Technician I, where you will play a key role in providing accurate clinical testing services in various sections, including general laboratory, Blood Bank, and Microbiology. Your responsibilities will involve ensuring timely results through quality control, performance improvement, and effective communication with medical professionals regarding critical values. You will also be involved in clerical duties, phlebotomy, and the dispensing of blood products as required by our medical staff.
Responsibilities :

- Perform specimen collection, ensuring proper handling and processing while following established protocols.
- Conduct laboratory tests across multiple sections including Hematology, Chemistry, Microbiology, and Blood Bank, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
- Monitor quality control measures, performing analyses according to established guidelines and documenting results.
- Carry out preventative maintenance on laboratory equipment, troubleshooting minor issues when necessary.
- Engage in ongoing professional development and training for personal growth and to assist new associates and students.
- Adhere to all relevant compliance and safety standards including CLIA, CAP, AABB, and OSHA protocols.
- Utilize laboratory information systems effectively for reporting and managing results.
- Successfully complete annual competency assessments as required.
Job Requirements : Education / Skills
Associate's Degree in clinical laboratory science or medical laboratory technology from an accredited institution or equivalent training, as defined in CLIA regulation 42CFR :Completion of a U.S. military medical laboratory training course lasting at least 50 weeks and possession of the military occupational specialty of medical laboratory specialist;OR60 semester hours including at least 24 hours of medical laboratory technology or science courses with specific chemistry and biology requirements.ANDCompletion of laboratory training approved by recognized accrediting organizations or three months of documented laboratory training in applicable specialties for high complexity testing.Experience
No experience required for graduates from approved clinical laboratory training programs.OR
Six months of relevant clinical laboratory experience, including rotations in Blood Banking, Microbiology, and other relevant specialties, within the last five years.Licenses, Registrations, or Certifications
State Licensure is required in Louisiana.New graduates should be Board Certified or eligible, with the requirement to complete Board Certification within one year of hire (Louisiana exemption).Work Schedule : Varies
