Job Overview
We are seeking a Junior BI Developer to join our Data, Analytics and Visualization team in Lansing, MI. This is a 12-month contract position with the possibility of permanent placement.
The ideal candidate will have experience with Tableau and Power BI, as well as a strong understanding of data visualization, data modeling, and analysis.
Responsibilities
- Design and develop interactive and visually appealing Tableau and Power BI reports and dashboards
- Work closely with business stakeholders to understand their reporting needs and translate those needs into technical requirements
- Offer the best-fit alternative solution when appropriate
- Create complex calculations, measures, and calculated fields in Tableau and Power BI
- Develop and maintain data sources in Tableau Prep and Power BI Data Flows
- Collaborate with data engineers and other technical teams to ensure data is structured and organized for efficient reporting and analysis
- Troubleshoot issues with existing reports and dashboards
- Stay current with Tableau and Power BI best practices and recommend process improvements
- Train and support end-users on how to use Tableau and Power BI reports and dashboards
Requirements
Bachelor's degree in data science, data analytics, or other IT-related fields, or Associate's degree in IT-related field with 2+ years of experienceTableau proficiency, including creating dashboards, visualizations, and reportsData visualization skills, with the ability to create effective and engaging data visualizationsData modeling and analysis skills, with the ability to design and implement data models and perform data analysis using SQL or other toolsETL experience, with knowledge of ETL processes and tools to extract, transform, and load data from various sources into a data warehouseBusiness acumen, with the ability to understand and analyze business requirements and translate them into actionable insights using Tableau and other BI toolsCommunication skills, with the ability to communicate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholdersAttention to detail, with the ability to ensure accuracy and completeness in data modeling, data analysis, and data visualizationsProblem-solving skills, with the ability to identify and troubleshoot technical issues and find creative solutionsTeamwork, with the ability to work collaboratively with other members of the development team and stakeholders across the organizationContinuous learning, with a willingness to stay up-to-date with the latest Tableau and BI trends, tools, and technologiesWhat's in it for you?
