Job Summary
s a Registered Nurse - Pediatric, you will provide safe, compassionate, and high-quality nursing care to pediatric patients in inpatient and / or outpatient settings.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide age-appropriate, culturally competent care to pediatric patients (neonates, infants, children, adolescents) including assessment, planning, implementing and evaluating nursing interventions.
- Monitor patient status, vital signs, and responses to treatments; promptly escalate concerns to the physician or pediatric team.
- dminister medications, IV therapy, fluids, phlebotomy, and treatments as ordered; ensure accurate documentation in the patient's electronic health record (EHR).
- ssist with IV insertion and phlebotomy; support conscious sedation procedures when required (per unit protocol).
- Educate patients and families regarding diagnoses, treatment plans, medications, discharge instructions, and follow-up care.
- Promote patient and family engagement, provide emotional support and developmental-appropriate care and teaching.
- dhere to hospital policies and procedures including infection prevention, patient safety standards, regulatory compliance, and quality initiatives values : Integrity, Compassion, Accountability, Respect, Excellence).
- Collaborate with physicians, advanced practice providers, other RNs, LPNs, allied health professionals, unit leadership and ancillary services to coordinate care and optimize patient outcomes.
- Participate in rounds, handoffs, shift-to-shift communication, and multidisciplinary team meetings.
- Contribute to the professional development of the nursing team by attending unit-based training, in-services, and maintaining required certifications / licensure.
- Serve as a role model for best nursing practices, advocate for patients, and uphold NYCHH's commitment to equity, access and quality care for all populations.
Required Skills & Experience
Minimum two (2) years of Maternal & Child experience.Minimum two (2) years of IV insertion and phlebotomy experience.Minimum two (2) years of conscious sedation experience.Demonstrated ability to work calmly under pressure in a pediatric care environment.Strong clinical assessment skills, critical thinking, and effective communication (verbal and written) with children, families and interprofessional teams.Required Skills & Experience
