Position Summary
The Operations Manager supports Second Chance Center’s (SCC) day-to-day facilities and operational needs, ensuring safe, trauma-informed, and cost-effective environments for staff and justice-involved client partners. This position supervises operations support staff, manages vendor relationships, and directly performs routine maintenance and small projects when feasible. The Operations Manager reports to the Director of Operations and provides tactical management that complements senior leadership’s strategic oversight.
Key Responsibilities
1) Facilities & Maintenance Management
- Oversee daily operations of SCC buildings, including preventive maintenance, inspections, and work orders.
- Perform hands-on repairs (painting, patching, minor plumbing / electrical, furniture assembly) when cost-effective.
- Coordinate vendor schedules for specialized work; monitor service quality and timeliness.
- Maintain facilities documentation and ensure compliance with ADA and safety codes.
2) Vendor & Cost Oversight
Solicit bids, compare pricing, and recommend cost-effective vendor solutions.Reconcile vendor invoices and monitor against approved scopes.Track operating expenses related to facilities and identify savings opportunities.Escalate large contract negotiations to the Director of Operations.3) Staff Supervision & Leadership
Supervise operations staff at Potomac (e.g., custodian, front desk attendants, food coordinator), ensuring coverage across sites.Provide coaching and evaluations; model trauma-informed communication and professional conduct.Maintain scheduling and on-call coverage plans for facilities needs.4) Safety, Security & Emergency Preparedness
Conduct facility safety checks, drills, and corrective actions.Monitor access control, camera, and incident reports; coordinate with vendors for repairs.Ensure staff follow emergency response procedures.5) Cross-Team Operational Support
Partner with housing, program, and behavioral health teams to ensure facilities meet programmatic needs.Support event and training space setup / teardown.Assist Director of Operations and Finance with expense documentation and reporting.Requirements : Required :
5+ years in facilities, operations, or related field.2+ years of staff supervision or team leadership.Strong administrative and vendor management skills.Experience working with justice involved individuals or vulnerable populations.Trauma informed approach and effective communication skills.Ability to self perform basic repairs and maintenance.Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.Preferred :
Trade or technical certifications (OSHA, HVAC, locksmithing, etc.).Experience with work order systems, procurement controls, or nonprofit operations.Familiarity with security post orders and risk management practices.Work Schedule & Environment
Fulltime, primarily during business hours with some evening / weekend coverage as needed.Onsite across SCC facilities in Aurora / Denver Metro.Compensation & Benefits
