Job Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Long Term Care position in Alaska requiring an active AK RN license and BLS certification.
Responsibilities
Position is in a Long Term Care unit within an acute care medical center and Level IV trauma facilityUnit has 22 LTC beds within a hospital settingAssignment length is 13 or 26 weeks, based on traveler preferenceWork schedule is 5x8-hour variable shifts, with exact shift (days or nights) assigned prior to startEvery other weekend coverage is requiredNo on-call requirementCandidates must be willing to float within the hospital and to affiliated hospitals as neededEpic is used for electronic charting, and previous experience is requiredResponsibilities include providing nursing care to long term care residents in a hospital-based unitMust work at least 2 out of 3 major holidays : Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New YearTraveler housing and rental vehicle are provided for the duration of the assignment, with specific restrictions on usageScrub attire is flexible—any color or business casual is acceptableFirst time travelers are welcome to applyModules must be completed before start and annually, typically taking about 16 hoursNo pets allowed in facility housing and bringing family members requires facility approvalVehicle and housing are only for traveler use, with cleaning requirements before departureTravelers refusing to float may risk termination of assignmentRequirements
Active and current AK RN license is requiredBLS certification is requiredMinimum 1 year of RN experience is requiredReferences from at least 2 supervisors covering 1 year of comparable experience within the last 3 years are requiredCandidates must reside at least 50 miles from the facilityEpic charting experience is requiredPermanent staff must be separated for at least 3 months before returning as a travelerTravelers can only work at the facility for a maximum of 1 calendar year and must take a 6-month break before returningHepatitis B vaccine is required (titers or declination not accepted)Valid driver's license and proof of rental car insurance coverage required if using facility vehicleBenefits
