No first-time travelers

Description :

Unit performs approximately 300 deliveries a month.

Unit has 2 OB ED beds, 4 antepartum rooms, 9 labor rooms, and 2 operating rooms.

Follow state and AWHONN guidelines for patient ratios.

Electronic medical record system is Cerner, with fetal link and hugs security system.

Charge Nurse is present but generally does not take patients.

Resource nurse takes on staffing needs.

Two OB techs assist per shift for C-sections.

Weekend commitment is every other weekend, with variability based on rotations.

Holiday requirement is two out of three major holidays.

No on-call duty is necessary.

Scrub color provided by the facility.

No telemetry care is required.

Ventilators are available for mothers and babies but are transferred for higher-level care if needed.

Laborist and anesthesia are available in-house 24 / 7.

Strong IV skills are mandatory.

Respiratory therapy and pharmacy services are available 24 / 7.

Shifts are from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Floating to postpartum and NICU is expected; postpartum is floated first.

Floor-specific orientation spans two shifts.

Common diagnoses include high-risk obstetrics with multiple comorbidities and multiple births.

Neonatal surgeries are not performed at this facility.

Facility emphasizes being baby-friendly, with a focus on skin-to-skin contact within the first hour.

A NICU nurse attends all high-risk deliveries along with a respiratory therapist.

Understanding of documentation and care for perinatal initiatives is important.

The unit manages a large volume of surrogates and multiple births.

Cancellations may occur, with a limit of four shifts per 13-week assignment.
