Overview
Senior Technical Director, NCDOT Client Manager in Raleigh, NC. This role provides leadership within the Southeastern Region to ensure transportation subject matter, technical deliverables, and programs meet or exceed industry and company standards. You will drive SME innovation and administration, ensure compliance with Local, State, and Federal regulations, and provide direction to address current and future planning challenges in a dynamic field.
Your Impact
- Provide proactive and strategic process and people leadership for the design, implementation, and administration of engineering discipline’s project and program involvement within the organization.
- Lead the most complex and largest-scale civil engineering projects within the engineering discipline, including budgeting, tracking hours and expenses, supervising subcontractors and staff, and ensuring profitability.
- Drive pursuit and development of business and successful execution of current and potential infrastructure work in the assigned geography, focusing on large projects.
- Lead technical aspects of contract negotiation, presentations, and meetings.
- Drive long-term strategy, growth, and pipeline development of Civil Engineering work for WSP in the assigned area, across planning, design, and program / construction management.
- Ensure profitable performance of projects and successful completion within the specified area.
- Enforce compliance with applicable Federal, State, and Local engineering / design / construction laws, codes, policies, and regulatory requirements.
- Oversee the internal vision and mission for the engineering discipline, maintaining certifications, accreditations, and client value ratings.
- Lead discipline meetings and educational opportunities, fostering innovation, development, and quality project delivery.
- Represent the engineering discipline to external entities including Federal, State, and Local Agencies, Clients, Subcontractors, industry groups, and government / community entities.
- Provide senior leadership for proposals, project scopes, pricing, budgets, and performance metrics.
- Interpret and summarize data for complex projects to support sound engineering and regulatory conclusions.
- Provide discipline leadership to multi-disciplinary project teams and offer strategic advice to clients.
- Provide performance guidance to assigned managers and staff.
- Develop high-level business contacts and client base for civil engineering services, identifying additional opportunities and cross-selling WSP capabilities.
- Remain current in latest civil engineering techniques and practices; collaborate with professionals to provide future-ready solutions.
- Exercise ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources, and conduct, adhering to WSP’s Code of Conduct and policies.
- Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or closely related discipline.15+ years of relevant post-education experience in engineering, civil and infrastructure design.Advanced proficiency with civil engineering principles, design / build processes, and regulatory permitting issues.Extensive advanced proficiency with infrastructure design.Advanced knowledge of civil construction laws, codes, regulations, compliance practices, and record-keeping.Experience establishing, implementing, and managing large-scale discipline-related programs and projects.Excellent leadership and interpersonal communication skills, with the ability to manage staff and interact with employees at all levels.Strategic thinking, strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and prioritization under pressure.Ability to elicit cooperation from a wide variety of sources, including senior management and clients.Flexibility to adapt to change and varying schedules.Advanced knowledge of office software and discipline-specific design tools (e.g., MicroStation, AutoCAD, Civil 3D, ArcGIS, InRoads, Geopak, GeoSlope, ANSYS, STADD, HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS).Proven track record of workplace safety and compliance with health, safety, and harassment policies.Occasional travel may be required.Preferred Qualifications
