Chief Nursing Officer

Job Summary:

Under the direction of the Chief Executive Officer with a reporting relationship to the health care system’s Chief Nursing Executive, having the broadest scope for the exercise of independent initiative and judgment, is responsible for the development and implementation of facility-wide nursing education programs, operational standards, policies, procedures, and strategies, and an effective and ongoing program to monitor, evaluate and improve the quality of patient care. Ensures optimal utilization of resources, service delivery, safe patient care, and compliance with all applicable local, state, federal and Hospitals rules and regulations and nursing standards of care, to improve outcomes and the patient experience.

Qualifications:

• Valid New York State license and current registration to practice as a Registered Professional Nurse (RN) issued by the New York State Education Department (NYSED).
• A Master’s Degree in Nursing Administration or a related field; and Eight (8) years of satisfactory nursing experience.
• six (6) years of which must have been in administration or management.
• 8 yrs nursing of which 6 yrs must be in management.
• At least 6+ years in healthcare leadership, ideally in large or complex hospital settings
• Candidates with a pending New York State license will be considered.
• Proven track record achieving Magnet status Master's in Nursing Admin or related field Experienced in union environments and managing structural or departmental change Strong strategic planning and execution skills.
