Position Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Casualty Underwriter to join our growing E&S team. This role is responsible for underwriting complex primary and excess casualty risks across various industries, ensuring profitability, growth, and adherence to company guidelines. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of E&S underwriting, strong analytical and decision‑making skills, and the ability to cultivate productive relationships with wholesale brokers.

Key Responsibilities

• Risk Evaluation & Underwriting :
• Underwrite new and renewal accounts for general liability, excess liability, and other casualty lines within E&S guidelines and authority.
• Assess exposures, coverage needs, pricing adequacy, and policy terms for complex risks.
• Analyze loss trends, financial data, and other risk factors to determine appropriate underwriting actions.
• Broker & Market Relations :
• Develop and maintain strong relationships with wholesale brokers to drive profitable business growth.
• Negotiate terms and conditions to meet underwriting standards and client needs.
• Provide superior customer service and timely responses to broker submissions and inquiries.
• Portfolio & Profitability Management :
• Monitor and manage portfolio performance to ensure adherence to company profitability goals.
• Identify market trends, emerging risks, and opportunities to refine underwriting strategies.
• Collaborate with actuaries, claims, and legal teams to enhance risk selection and pricing models.
• Leadership & Mentorship :
• Provide guidance and training to junior underwriters and underwriting assistants.
• Participate in underwriting audits and process improvement initiatives.
• Represent the company at industry events, conferences, and broker meetings.
