SENIOR PARALEGAL
JOB SUMMARY
Assists Managing Counsel by providing, managing and coordinating high-quality legal services. This position exercises discretion and independent judgement with respect to matters of significance.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
- Provide in-depth legal review of contracts and insurance provisions.
- Review, revise, and negotiate commercial contracts for elevator installation, modernization, and maintenance services; prepare for attorney review and final signature by appropriate, authorized person, and route for signature. Track metrics for contract processing times via DocuSign.
- Prepare amendments, incorporating business decisions and judgements into language satisfactory to protect company's best interests.
- Coordinate with other corporate departments to inquire about submitted contracts.
- Assist with responding to document requests.
- Act as the "go-between" for both Fujitec and contractors to represent and communicate both their expectations. Bring parties together to determine the best ways to resolve issues.
- Act as a point of contact for a national sales team.
- Provide conflict resolution services for both parties and work to resolve disputes quickly.
- Clearly explain contract terminology to clients and other interested parties in simple, everyday language.
- Review and notarize lien waivers upon request.
- Act as point person for Certificate of Insurance ("COI") requests from customers, and liaison with Fujitec's insurance brokers to procure the appropriate COI per customer contract.
- Prepare and manage litigation files for the corporation's portfolio of personal injury, workers compensation, and auto claims.
- Provide in-person general office support as needed including but not limited to preparing and sending certified mail, opening mail, assisting with invoice payment, and file organization with a customer service approach.
- Maintain a thorough understanding of the corporation's policies, procedures, and practices, as relevant to their assigned areas of responsibility.
- Assist Risk Management in areas of fleet and safety utilizing vendor's portal for data gathering and reporting.
- Assist with documentation, flowcharts and auditing for J-SOX (Japanese Sarbanes Oxley).
