Med / Surg RN Job Details

Location : Frankfort, KY 40601 (Kentucky nursing jobs)

Estimated Weekly Salary : $1530-$1640

Healthcare Setting : 4th Floor Med / Surg Unit (46 beds)

Assignment Duration : 13 weeks (Start : 12 / 1 / 2025 – End : 3 / 2 / 2026)

Nursing Shift : 12-hour nights (7 : 00 PM – 7 : 00 AM), three shifts per week

Hours per Week : 36

Schedule : Every other weekend required

Unit Staffing : RNs, LPNs, PCTs, Nurse Externs, Unit Clerks, Clinical Nurse Coordinators

Documentation System : Meditech Expanse

Dress Code : Navy blue or gray scrubs (no royal blue)

Registered Nurse Qualifications

Active RN license in good standing (compact nursing license accepted)

BLS certification required

ACLS certification preferred

Current NIH Stroke Scale certification (annual renewal required)

Minimum 2 years of recent Med / Surg nursing experience

Telemetry experience and post-Percutaneous Coronary Intervention experience required

General Med / Surg skills : EKG interpretation, CPap management, port access

Preferred : Experience with chest tubes, NG tubes, wound vacs, drains, post-dialysis assessment, central lines, blood transfusions

Med / Surg RN Responsibilities

Deliver high-quality nursing care to Med / Surg patients in a 46-bed hospital unit

Monitor patients using GE Apex Pro Telemetry and advanced clinical equipment

Perform and assist with procedures such as telemetry monitoring and paracentesis

Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes

Float to other units (3 South post-surgical Med / Surg or PCU for telemetry overflow) as needed

Document patient care accurately using Meditech Expanse EMR system

Participate in unit communication and celebrations, fostering a positive nursing team environment

Uphold the hospital's "Patients First" philosophy by providing compassionate, individualized care
