Certified Welding Inspector (CWI)

Mission Support and Test Services, LLC (MSTS) manages and operates the Nevada National Security Site (NNSS) for the U.S. National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA). Responsibilities

The Nevada National Security Site (NNSS) is seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) to join our team. In this critical role, you will perform on-site inspections, verify quality control, and ensure compliance with engineering and regulatory standards. This role is essential to our quality assurance efforts, requiring expert knowledge of welding processes, codes, and inspection techniques.

Key responsibilities include :

  • Perform on-site, code-based welding inspection (AWS - American Welding Society, ASME - American Society of Mechanical Engineers, etc.)
  • Write daily reports summarizing inspection and acceptance / rejection of weldments.
  • Assist our customers with welding and quality issues ensuring project requirements and weld products consistently meet both internal standards and customer specifications.

Qualifications

Due to the nature of our work, U.S. citizenship is required for all positions.

Qualifications include :

  • Possess a current Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) Certificate issued by the American Welding Society (AWS) and at least 5 years relevant field experience.
  • Use expert knowledge of welding processes, codes, and inspection techniques to perform on-site inspections.
  • Must be able to read, write, and follow written and / or verbal instruction.
  • Must be able to perform clear, accurate, and professional report writing.
  • Able to manage working at multiple sites - the Nevada National Security Site (located 65 miles northwest of Las Vegas, Nevada) and the Losee Road facility in North Las Vegas, Nevada.
  • Work schedule for this position will be 4 / 10's, Monday Thursday (subject to change).
  • Pre-placement physical examination, which includes a drug screen, is required. MSTS maintains a substance abuse policy that includes random drug testing.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license.
  • MSTS is required by DOE directive to conduct a pre-employment drug test and background review that includes checks of personal references, credit, law enforcement records, and employment / education verifications. Applicants offered employment with MSTS are also subject to a federal background investigation to meet the requirements for access to classified information or matter if the duties of the position require a DOE security clearance.
  • Substance abuse or illegal drug use, falsification of information, criminal activity, serious misconduct or other indicators of untrustworthiness can cause a clearance to be denied or terminated by DOE, resulting in the inability to perform the duties assigned and subsequent termination of employment.
  • In addition, applicants for employment must be able to obtain and maintain a DOE Q-level security clearance, which requires U.S. citizenship, at least 18 years of age.
