Job Title : Hotel Engineer / Maintenance Technician

Position Summary :
The Hotel Engineer is responsible for the overall maintenance and repair of the hotel's physical facilities and systems, ensuring a safe, functional, and welcoming environment for guests and team members. This role requires hands-on technical skills, preventative maintenance knowledge, and the ability to address guest-related issues efficiently while upholding Marriott brand standards.
Key Responsibilities :
Perform daily inspections, routine maintenance, and repair work on mechanical, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and other hotel systems.
Respond promptly to maintenance service requests from guests or team members and resolve issues with minimal disruption.
Conduct preventative maintenance programs to reduce downtime and extend equipment life.
Maintain the appearance and functionality of guest rooms, public areas, back-of-house, and exterior grounds.
Monitor and maintain the pool and spa area to ensure water quality and compliance with health codes (if applicable).
Ensure compliance with fire, safety, and health regulations, including maintaining safety logs and completing safety training.
Coordinate with outside contractors and vendors as needed.
Maintain tools, supplies, and work areas in a clean, organized, and safe condition.
Assist with energy management and cost-control efforts in utilities and repairs.
Participate in emergency response situations such as power outages, plumbing leaks, and weather-related incidents.
Maintain accurate records of work orders, inspections, and maintenance logs.
Qualifications :
High school diploma or GED required; technical training or certification in a relevant field preferred.
1–2 years of general maintenance experience in a hotel or similar facility required.
Strong working knowledge of basic plumbing, electrical, and general building repairs. HVAC knowledge is a plus but not required.
Ability to use hand and power tools safely and effectively.
Familiarity with OSHA safety regulations and hotel safety / security protocols.
Self-motivated, dependable, and able to work independently with minimal supervision.
Flexible availability including evenings, weekends, and on-call shifts as needed.
Physical Requirements :
Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
Must be able to stand, walk, climb ladders, kneel, and crouch for extended periods.
Ability to work in various conditions including indoors, outdoors, heat, and cold.
