Position Overview :

In this exciting role as a Group Lead in our Coach Weld Department your primary responsibility will be to drive a team in continuous improvement of safety, budget, and schedule using lean manufacturing principles both on the production floor and during the production planning phases. Working with the production core team members, you will lead the team in technical problem solving for topics including standard and non-standard work, tooling, material flow, safety, engineering drawings, and process improvements for the best rail vehicles in the world.

What your day-to-day will look like :

  • Provides work assignments and work instructions to employees throughout each workday.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to effectively train and develop team members.
  • Coordinates work schedules with other Group Leaders and / or Supervisors and maintains work status.
  • Monitor employees’ safety, quality, and production progress escalating issues to the manager or appropriate support teams as needed.
  • Perform information inquiries and / or transactions using computer terminals to support other duties and responsibilities.

To thrive in this role, you have :

  • High school education or state recognized GED, or equivalent combination of education.
  • Experience in leading a team in a manufacturing environment while maintaining and promoting high team morale preferred.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word Power Point, Outlook, and Power app.
  • Must have basic English skills with the ability to effectively communicate with customers, vendors, contracted services and other employees within the Company.
  • Ability to read, write and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, memos and technical documentation.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
  • Siemens experience preferred

The base salary range for this position in Lexington, NC is $26.00 / hr - $30.59 / hr. The salary may be higher or lower depending on the budget and the candidate's experience, knowledge, skills, and qualifications.
