Senior Director, Clinical Portfolio Technology

Alnylam seeks a strategic technology leader to drive the strategy, delivery, and governance of platforms supporting Clinical Delivery, Portfolio Management, and Data Science, Statistics, & Epidemiology (DSSE). This role translates business strategy into validated, compliant, and AI-enabled capabilities that accelerate study execution, optimize portfolio analytics, and enable advanced data science and statistical insights. The Senior Director partners closely with Clinical Operations (CPS, GTO), Study Management, Portfolio / PPM leadership, and DSSE to deliver measurable business impact.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Serve as a thought partner to Clinical Ops (Clinical Portfolio Services, Global Trial Optimization), Study Management, Portfolio / PPM leadership, and DSSE.
  • Build and maintain collaborative relationships to anticipate needs, align technology roadmaps, and drive shared outcomes.

Clinical Delivery & Portfolio Technology Leadership :

  • Own product and platform roadmaps for clinical trial execution, study management, and portfolio analytics (e.g., Medidata Rave EDC, CTMS, Veeva Vault eTMF, CluePoints RBQM).
  • Define capability priorities and success metrics (cycle time, inspection outcomes, data quality).
  • Govern scope, risk, dependencies, and budgets across clinical and DSSE platforms; drive value realization and cost optimization.

    • DSSE Enablement :

  • Partner with DSSE to enable analytics, statistical computing, and real-world evidence generation.
  • Integrate data standards (e.g., CDISC SDTM / ADaM, E2B(R3)) and support data stewardship, automation, and AI-enabled insights for clinical and DSSE use cases.
  • Champion centralized dashboards and data visualization for clinical and DSSE stakeholders.

    • Portfolio Analytics & Decision Support :

  • Support Portfolio / PPM leadership with data-driven insights, scenario modeling, and resource forecasting.
  • Enable robust portfolio prioritization and reporting.

    • Standardization & Governance :

  • Standardize ways of working in alignment with Alnylam's IT Operating Model.
  • Champion test automation, resilient operations, information security, and technology governance for clinical and DSSE platforms.

    • Qualifications : Required :

  • Advanced degree in Information Technology, Data Science, Computer Science, or related field, with specialized knowledge in clinical development and analytics.
  • 1215+ years in life-sciences technology with 58+ years leading delivery for Clinical platforms in GxP environments.
  • Deep expertise in 21 CFR Part 11, EU Annex 11, ICH E6(R2); demonstrated inspection-readiness leadership and strong CSV / CSA practices.
  • Demonstrated vendor / SOW management with major platform providers (e.g., Veeva, Medidata).
  • Strong program / portfolio leadership across complex multi-workstream initiatives; fluency in Agile and product operating models.
  • Excellent executive communication and stakeholder engagement; strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a track record of operational excellence and innovation.

    • Preferred :

  • Experience with RBQM / centralized monitoring (e.g., CluePoints).
  • Knowledge of CDISC standards, E2B(R3), portfolio analytics, and data visualization.
  • Working knowledge of integration patterns (e.g., Boomi), cloud (AWS), automated testing, and data governance in regulated environments.

    • U.S. Pay Range :

    $226,800.00 - $306,800.00

    The pay range reflects the full-time base salary range we expect to pay for this role at the time of posting. Base pay will be determined based on a number of factors including, but not limited to, relevant experience, skills, and education. This role is eligible for an annual short-term incentive award (e.g., bonus or sales incentive) and an annual long-term incentive award (e.g., equity).
