Responsibilities Work in a hospital Labor & Delivery unit with 10 L&D beds, 4 OB ED triage beds, and 4 antepartum rooms Care for antepartum, laboring, postpartum, OB triage, and newborn patients, including high-risk cases Patient ratios include 1 : 3 for antepartum, 1 : 2 for inactive labor, 1 : 1 for active labor, and 1 : 3 couplets for postpartum care Must provide couplet care and postpartum support throughout the contract Variable 12-hour shifts; must be able to work both days and nights Weekend rotation is every other weekend with no call requirements Epic EMR is used in the unit and experience is required Floating may occur between L&D and Postpartum / Couplet care Responsibilities include antepartum, labor, delivery, postpartum, and newborn care, including circulating for and recovering C-sections Staff support includes unit secretary, scrub techs, charge nurse, VAT team, 24 / 7 RT, OB physician team, and anesthesia / CRNA Orientation includes four days with a preceptor : three in L&D and one in postpartum First-time travelers are accepted for this position Scrub color is cobalt blue, provided by the hospital Holiday coverage required as needed Time off must be approved by management A 100-mile radius rule applies; local travelers are not accepted Requirements Active SD or compact RN license required Graduation from a board-approved nursing program Current BLS and NRP certifications required Minimum 2 years of Labor & Delivery RN experience in a level 3 or higher L&D unit Experience managing high-acuity labor patients, including preeclampsia, preterm labor, and patients less than 35 weeks gestation Competency in IV starts, cervical checks, phlebotomy, magnesium sulfate, blood administration, insulin administration, and caring for C-section patients Experience with Epic charting required Preferred : ACLS, certification in inpatient obstetrics, electronic fetal monitoring, inpatient antepartum, and Level 2 nursery baby experience Benefits High Pay and Bonuses Medical, Dental and Vision Insurance with Day 1 Options 401(k) Plan Weekly Payroll Deposit Free Online CEUs Generous Housing Allowance Travel and Licensure Reimbursements Non-taxed Per Diem and Subsidy Traveler Rewards and Discounts American Traveler Job ID P-627153.
