Job description

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

  • Merchandising:
  • Develop and implement merchandising strategies to increase product visibility and sales within key accounts.Ensure each assigned retail account has sufficient ASC inventory on the showroom floor.Re-stock low-quantity items by retrieving products from retailers’ back room or storage area.Straighten, stock, and improve ASC’s visual presence at each assigned retail location.Perform resets and new product cut-ins of ASC products as assigned.Collaborate with the marketing team to create compelling product displays and promotions.Monitor product assortments and recommend adjustments to meet market demands.
  • Account Management:
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key retail accounts.Understand the needs and goals of each account and align company strategies with their objectives.Serve as the main point of contact between the company and assigned accounts.Collaborate with Chain Account Managers on shared accounts to ensure best-in-class service.Follow the assigned route(s) to ensure all accounts are visited.
  • Sales and Revenue Growth:
  • Set sales targets and work with key accounts to achieve them.Analyze sales data and market trends to identify growth opportunities.Negotiate pricing and promotional agreements with key accounts to maximize profitability.
  • Inventory Management:
  • Monitor and manage inventory levels at key accounts to ensure product availability.Coordinate with the procurement team to prevent stock outs and overstock situations.Replace and add retailer shelf tags on missing ASC items to ensure plan-o-gram compliance.Regularly audit retailer plan-o-grams and take action to replace missing items.
  • Market Analysis/Reporting:
  • Conduct market research to stay informed about industry trends, competitor activities, and consumer preferences.Use market insights to make informed recommendations to key accounts and the company.Prepare and deliver regular reports on sales performance, inventory levels, and market trends to internal stakeholders and key accounts.
  • Problem Solving:
  • Address any issues or concerns raised by key accounts promptly and effectively.Take action while in-store with retailer decision-makers.Collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve complex problems.

Do you have the following qualifications?

  • Merchandising Strategy: Must have a deep understanding of merchandising principles to create visually appealing displays, optimize product placement, and implement effective merchandising strategies to boost sales.Strategic Planning: Ability to analyze market trends, identify opportunities, and create actionable plans to drive sales growth and expand market share.Customer Account Management: Ability to understand customer needs, address concerns, and provide exceptional customer service.Organization & Problem-Solving Skills: Must have strong organizational skills to manage multiple accounts, track inventory, and coordinate merchandising efforts, with the ability to address challenges and resolve issues effectively.Analytical Abilities: Ability to identify areas for improvement and make data-driven decisions to boost sales performance.Communication Skills: Must have excellent communication skills, verbal and written, to convey sales strategies, objectives, performance updates, and proposals to customers and stakeholders.Adaptability: Ability to adjust strategies and tactics to meet market demands and stay ahead of competitors, in a fast-paced work environment.Industry Knowledge: Must have a strong understanding of the industry, including knowledge of market trends, customer preferences, and industry regulations.Time Management: Must have effective time management skills for prioritizing tasks and meeting deadlines and must work with a sense of urgency.Product Knowledge: Must have a solid understanding of ASC’s products for effective merchandising and promotion within key accounts.Business Acumen: Ability to align merchandising and sales strategies with overall business objectives.

Your education & experience should be similar to:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, or a related field. Relevant work experience and demonstrated skills will be considered in lieu of a degree.Proven track record of success in merchandising and account management, ideally within a similar industry or related sector.Strong presentation and sales skills with the ability to manage complex sales cycles.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of building and maintaining relationships with key stakeholders.Analytical mindset with the ability to interpret data and use insights to drive sales strategies.Demonstrated leadership capabilities and the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.Proficient in using CRM software and other sales-related tools.Willingness to travel to meet with clients and attend industry events.

Working conditions:

  • Remote professional home office setting with reliable internet.Be available via computer, video conferencing, and phone during business hours.Be able to work outside of the core schedule, based on business needs.Travel required, 50%

The required physical abilities to perform this job:

  • Primarily driving and sitting, with some walking, standing, and bending.Ability to drive for business travel, site meetings, etc.Some stopping, kneeling, crouching, lifting, carrying, and reaching up to 50 pounds.Able to hear and speak on the telephone.Close visual work on a computer terminal.Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a keyboard, mouse, and other technical instruments.

The estimated annualized base salary range for the Key Account Merchandiser is $55,000- $65,000. Animal Supply Company (ASC) compensation is based on multiple factors including, but not limited to role, level, and location. In addition, ASC’s pay can vary based on knowledge, skills, and experience for each candidate for the posted position. Included in ASC’s total compensation are benefits such as medical, dental, and retirement.
