Job Description
The QA Automation Analyst III will be responsible for planning, developing, executing, and maintaining both manual and automated test cases to ensure the quality of software applications within the Texas Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC). This role involves close collaboration with stakeholders to prepare user acceptance testing (UAT) scenarios, track defects, and align testing efforts with business requirements. The analyst will participate in all phases of the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC), support Agile development teams, and leverage tools such as Jira, Xray, UFT, and SQL to ensure comprehensive testing coverage. The ideal candidate will combine technical proficiency in test automation and API testing with strong communication and problem-solving skills to support quality delivery.
Responsibilities
- Develop, execute, and maintain automated and manual test scripts.
- Prepare detailed UAT test plans and cases aligned with business requirements.
- Conduct walkthroughs with stakeholders to clarify requirements and testing objectives.
- Track test case execution, log results, and provide reporting.
- Use Jira to log, track, and manage defects across the SDLC.
- Create and maintain requirements traceability matrices.
- Perform SQL queries to validate data and support testing activities.
- Conduct API testing using tools such as Postman, SOAPUI, or JMETER.
- Execute various testing types including unit, integration, regression, smoke, system, stress, and performance.
- Support development, test, and UAT environments by troubleshooting defects and coordinating with teams.
- Review and analyze performance test scripts and results.
- Participate in Agile sprints, providing testing support and quality assurance guidance.
Requirements
Minimum Qualifications
8 years of experience writing and executing test cases and creating test plans.8 years of knowledge of software usability concepts, requirements traceability, and SDLC processes.8 years of experience using the Xray Test Case management tool.8 years of experience writing SQL queries for CRUD operations.8 years of proficiency with CI / CD pipelines for testing.8 years of API testing experience using Postman, SOAPUI, JMETER, or similar tools.8 years of automation testing and scripting experience using UFT.Preferred Qualifications
Knowledge of Object-Oriented Programming.Experience creating and reviewing performance testing scripts.Familiarity with code coverage tools and process / system analysis.Prior experience working with Texas HHS agencies and systems.Additional Requirements
Candidate must be local to Austin, TX.Position requires onsite presence two days per week (Thursdays and Fridays), with remote work permitted three days per week (subject to change).May be required to work outside of standard business hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.Must comply with HHSC policies and procedures.Background check and state compliance clearances required.Work Location and Schedule
