Job Summary
The Accounting Manager will oversee the financial operations of a manufacturing company in Scotts Valley, CA, ensuring accurate financial reporting, compliance with regulations, and effective management of accounting processes. This role involves supervising accounting staff, managing general ledger activities, and supporting strategic financial planning, with a focus on manufacturing-specific accounting needs such as cost accounting, inventory management, and production cost analysis.
Key Responsibilities
- Financial Reporting : Prepare and publish timely monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with US GAAP.
- General Ledger Management : Oversee all aspects of the general ledger, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and month-end / year-end close processes.
- Cost Accounting : Manage manufacturing and inventory-related accounting, including cost tracking, overhead rates, work-in-progress (WIP) reporting, and revenue recognition.
- Budgeting and Forecasting : Assist in developing and managing budgets, including detailed project budgets, cash flow forecasting, and variance analysis.
- Team Supervision : Lead and mentor a team of accountants, providing guidance on transaction processing, financial reporting, and professional development.
- Internal Controls : Develop, implement, and monitor internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure compliance with financial regulations.
- Audit Coordination : Support the audit process by preparing necessary documentation and coordinating with external auditors.
- Process Improvement : Review and enhance accounting processes and protocols to improve efficiency and accuracy, particularly in manufacturing operations.
- Compliance : Ensure adherence to local, state, and federal regulations, including tax filings and financial reporting requirements.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration : Partner with operations and production teams to analyze costs, optimize supply chain finances, and support business decisions.
- Software Utilization : Leverage accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, ERP systems) to streamline processes and maintain accurate records.
Qualifications
Education : Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.Experience : Minimum of 3-5 years of progressive accounting experience , with at least 3 years in a manufacturing environment. Supervisory experience preferred.Skills :Strong understanding of US GAAP, cost accounting, and manufacturing financial processes, QuickBooks Enterprise.
Proficiency with accounting software (QuickBooks, ERP systems like NetSuite preferred).Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel; experience with SQL or Microsoft Access is a plus.Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities.Preferred : Experience with project-based accounting, inventory management, or multi-location manufacturing operations. Familiarity with Scotts Valley or Santa Cruz County business regulations is a plus.Benefits
