Responsibilities Hospital-based Labor & Delivery unit with 7 labor beds, 3 antepartum beds, 2 triage beds, and 2 ORs Level II Trauma Center with Level III NICU support Handles a high volume of complex, high-risk pregnancies and 55-75 deliveries per month Patient ratios vary by acuity and follow AWHONN guidelines Occasional floating to Mother / Baby unit for basic assessments and care Weekend rotation required every other weekend Holiday coverage required for 2 of 3 major holidays per contract (Christmas, Thanksgiving, New Year's) Day shift position, 12-hour shifts starting at 6 : 40 AM No mandatory on-call, but may have low census call with 30-minute call back time Uses Cerner Maternity EMR and Surginet for the OR Responsible for managing laboring patients, high-risk cases, scheduled inductions and c-sections, and comprehensive postpartum care Support structure includes charge nurse, in-house anesthesia, and OB providers on call Phlebotomy in-house, but most labs are self-collected Orientation includes 3 shifts in Labor & Delivery and 1 in Mother / Baby Green scrubs provided and required; no artificial nails allowed Free parking available First-time travelers are not accepted for this position Former perm staff must have a 6 month separation before being considered No local candidates permitted within a 60-mile radius Attendance and time-off policies strictly enforced Requirements Active AL or compact RN license Minimum 3 years of recent Labor, Delivery, Recovery (LDR) experience required Certifications required : BLS, ACLS, NRP, and AWHONN Intermediate Fetal Monitoring Proficiency with high-risk patient management, including magnesium sulfate, preterm labor, diabetes, postpartum hemorrhage, pre-eclampsia, and emergent C-sections Circulating experience for cesarean sections and basic mother-baby (couplet) care skills Mother-baby experience highly preferred Experience using Cerner Maternity EMR preferred Benefits High Pay and Bonuses Medical, Dental and Vision Insurance with Day 1 Options 401(k) Plan Weekly Payroll Deposit Free Online CEUs Generous Housing Allowance Travel and Licensure Reimbursements Non-taxed Per Diem and Subsidy Traveler Rewards and Discounts American Traveler Job ID P-638873.
