Overview

Summary of Job Duties

The Extension Associate / Writer / Editor plays a key role in supporting the mission of Extension by creating clear, accessible, and engaging communication materials. This position involves writing, editing, and developing media content that translates research and technical information into practical resources for diverse audiences. The successful candidate will collaborate with the SAFHS communications staff, faculty, staff, and students to enhance outreach and educational efforts.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in communications, journalism, English, marketing, education, or related field (Master's preferred).
  • Proven writing and editing experience across print and digital formats.
  • Strong editorial and organizational skills with attention to detail.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with diverse teams and stakeholders.
  • Familiarity with content management systems, publishing tools, and media production is preferred.
  • Three (3) professional writing samples are required with the application.
  • Key Responsibilities

  • Write, edit, and produce extension publications, newsletters, fact sheets, blogs, and social media content.
  • Develop and adapt content for multiple platforms, including print, web, and media outlets.
  • Translate complex or research-based information into clear, accessible language for the public.
  • Collaborate with subject-matter experts, designers, and media specialists to produce high-quality materials.
  • Support outreach campaigns and assist in providing engaging media content for educational initiatives.
  • Manage multiple projects and meet publication deadlines.
  • Salary Information

    $20-$25 hourly
