Your Impact
We're looking for a Senior Staff Electrical Engineer, Data Centers to lead the integration and development of complex power systems—supporting projects like large-scale data center generators and cutting-edge power management solutions.
What you'll do
- Translate customer needs into clear system-level requirements through collaboration with product, engineering, and business partners.
- Define architecture and design strategies for hardware and software systems—documenting inputs, outputs, interfaces, and interactions.
- Own the product and system requirements from start to finish, ensuring validation and verification at every level (component, subsystem, system).
- Develop system integration and test strategies—including hands-on activities for new and existing product platforms.
- Lead and participate in technical reviews, discussions, and design activities across the engineering organization.
- Create and manage key documentation : Statements of Requirements, system block diagrams, and technical specifications.
- Influence product development plans, schedules, and cost targets while keeping the system aligned with business goals.
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior engineers.
- Travel occasionally to other Generac sites and customer locations (as needed).
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline.10+ years of engineering experience in a product development or systems-focused environment.Preferred Qualifications
Master's degree in Systems Engineering or a related STEM field.Deep experience in system-level product development, ideally following the V-Model or NPI process.Strong knowledge of electrical power systems, especially large generators (500kW–5MW), grid / islanded solutions, and load-sharing systems.Hands-on experience with generator paralleling, synchronization, and power management.Ability to produce technical documents, such as system architecture, block diagrams, and interface specs.Proven cross-functional leadership and ability to deliver in a matrixed organization.Excellent problem-solving, communication, and mentoring skills.Experience in designing and packaging electromechanical systems.Technical Expertise
Strong command of systems engineering principles and structured problem-solving.Advanced knowledge of communication protocols and hardware interfaces.Ability to translate technical information for diverse audiences.High attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities at once.Why you'll love it here
