ABC Special Agent In Charge Of Regional Operations

Virginia Alcoholic Beverage Control Authority (VA ABC) Bureau of Law Enforcement is seeking a Special Agent in Charge to plan and manage all field operations for the Alexandria Regional Office. Duties involve monitoring and evaluating staff performance, overseeing the budget, and directing criminal investigations and law enforcement programs including licensing and regulatory compliance. Additional responsibilities include reviewing, recommending and implementing regulated procedures, processes, and programs; serving on various planning committees to formulate goals, objectives and strategies; and maintaining effective working relationships with local, state and federal law enforcement agencies within assigned region.

Minimum Qualifications

• Qualified applicants should have extensive knowledge of the principles and practices of public administration, Virginia ABC laws and regulations, state and federal criminal laws, business laws and practices as well as specialized knowledge of financial investigative techniques and practices.
• Additional qualifications include considerable experience supervising personnel and criminal investigations, proficiency with personal computers and current software applications, and the demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
• The ability to resolve problems; make sound decisions; set priorities; manage multiple and / or competing tasks / responsibilities; and establish rapport and build consensus with Authority and Bureau staff, outside agency personnel and the general public is paramount.
• Considerable skill in the use of firearms and non-lethal weapons is also needed.
• Selected candidate must have Virginia DCJS law enforcement certification, a valid driver's license and live within parameters specified by Bureau General Orders.
• The successful candidate will be required to live within the geographic area of assignment as designated by Bureau General Orders.

Preferred Qualifications

Special Requirements Pursuant to Sections 2.2-3115 of the Code of Virginia, the selected candidate will be required to file a Statement of Economic Interests Form prior to beginning work and annually thereafter.
