Job description

Overview

Full Time Assistant Store Manager (Store 1724) at GameStop. This role supports the Store Manager in all facets of store operations and helps develop a sales culture by providing outstanding guest service and product knowledge to drive guest loyalty and repeat business.

Responsibilities

  • Provide best-in-class guest service : greet guests, respond to questions and concerns promptly and courteously, assist with video gaming needs, inform guests about promotions, and thank guests for shopping.
  • Support the shopping environment, visual and operational elements, current sales initiatives, and the relationships that lead to sales and repeat business.
  • Process guest purchases / returns accurately using the POS system, including giving receipts and ensuring high-quality guest service.
  • Answer guest questions in person or by phone; escalate issues to the Store Manager as appropriate.
  • Promote GameStop guest benefits, such as new title reservations, trade-ins, and Pro Rewards.
  • Assist the Store Manager with setting guest service expectations and training store associates in policies, procedures, and guidelines.
  • Monitor associate performance, provide feedback, and ensure alignment with guest service expectations.
  • Provide recognition and feedback to associates and document performance in HR systems in partnership with the Store Manager.
  • Ensure onboarding, training, and compliance are completed prior to openings / closings; understand policies, inventory control, loss prevention, safety, financial protocols, and ethical responsibilities.
  • Schedule store associates, manage breaks, and supervise staffing to maintain superior guest service.
  • Approve payroll, manage paid time off, and verify hours worked.
  • Maintain store cleanliness, organization, merchandising per guidelines, and ensure equipment is in working order.
  • Fulfill Omni-Channel orders daily.
  • Protect assets through inventory control and loss prevention; inspect packages at closing as needed and report concerns to the Store Manager.
  • Support the team in meeting sales, profit, and shrink goals and perform required administrative duties.
  • Count inventory, restock shelves, and ensure products are represented and organized in the store.
  • Record daily transactions accurately in the POS system and handle bank deposits as required.
  • Verify shipments, conduct inventories, and report discrepancies to the Store Manager or District Manager.
  • Process defectives / recalls and stock pulls promptly with proper labeling and packing lists.
  • Maintain safety awareness and report injuries per guidelines.
  • Maintain store records and help keep manuals up to date.
  • Supervise and delegate tasks to Sales Associates and Retail Keyholders in the Store Manager's absence.
  • Adhere to GameStop policies, including the Associate Handbook and Code of Standards, Ethics & Conduct.
  • Open and close procedures as required.

Qualifications

  • Must provide proof of identity and eligibility to work in the United States.
  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; associate's or bachelor's degree in business, marketing, merchandising, or related field preferred.
  • At least 6 months of retail management experience preferred.
  • At least 2 years of retail sales, guest service, and / or management experience preferred.
  • Video game knowledge preferred.

  • Provide genuine and individualized guest assistance.
  • Clear verbal and written communication in English; bilingual English / Spanish preferred.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and both independently and as part of a team.
  • Meet performance expectations, including attendance, safety, and respectful workplace.
  • Operate POS system and perform basic math and organizational tasks.
  • Complete required paperwork accurately and follow written or verbal instructions.
  • Flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, and some holidays; minimum 3 days / week availability.
  • Ability to work alone for extended periods and lift up to 30 lbs; capable of light physical activity as part of job duties.
