Reedley College invites applications for a part-time Journalism Instructor pool. Responsibilities
Teaching a part-time schedule of Journalism courses as assigned;Using a variety of pedagogies and instructional delivery systems including technology for face-to-face, online, and / or hybrid formats;Communicating effectively with students, faculty and staff;Using effective teaching methods aligned with the approved curriculum course outlines of record;Evaluating student progress through tests, exams, written assignments, oral responses, etc., in keeping with course objectives;Providing course syllabi to students;Maintaining classroom records in accordance with District Policy;Turning in all required student grading and evaluation reports in a timely manner;Teaching assignments in a variety of instructional settings and times, including classes as needed;Fulfilling duties as required by Administrative Regulation 7122;Other duties as assigned.Minimum Qualifications
All candidates must have evidence of responsiveness to and understanding of the diverse backgrounds of community college students and a commitment to equity-minded practice within the classroom. and
Master’s in journalism or communication with a specialization in journalism; orBachelor’s in either of the above and Master’s in English, history, communication, literature, composition, comparative literature, any social science, business, business administration, marketing, graphics or photography; orA valid California Community College Credential; orEquivalent education and / or experience (requires an equivalency).Note : If the degrees posted on transcripts do not match exactly, you must petition for equivalency.
Desirable Qualifications
Experience incorporating diversity, equity, and inclusion into responsibilities;Experience with racially minoritized students and understanding of historical exclusion in higher education;Willingness to examine and remediate instructional practices to engage minoritized students;Related work and professional experience;Experience with students from diverse cultural, gender, age, socioeconomic, and ethnic backgrounds, including students with disabilities;Ability to work collaboratively with faculty and staff to enhance instruction, curriculum, student learning support and success;Proficiency with technology used to provide high-quality instruction and student support;Strong communication with students and staff; knowledge of current assessment methods; understanding of the community college mission and goals.Additional Information
