GENERAL POSITION DESCRIPTION :
The Financial Aid Specialist plans, organizes, and coordinates financial aid programs within assigned areas of responsibility. This position oversees the College's scholarship programs, facilitates student worker employment opportunities, and ensures effective coordination with other departments, colleges, and external organizations to support student success. This position receives general direction from the Associate Director of Financial Aid and exercises no supervision.
NOTE : This is a security sensitive position and an appropriate background investigation will be made on applicants being strongly considered for this position.
SELECTION CRITERIA :

Knowledge of : 1. Federal, state, and institutional rules, regulations, and procedures governing student financial aid programs; 2. Students' rights, responsibilities, and obligations related to financial aid; 3. Scholarship, grant, and work-study program administration; 4. Standard office practices, procedures, and recordkeeping methods; 5. Customer service principles and effective communication techniques; Skills in : 6. Providing excellent customer service and support to students, parents, and staff; 7. Communicating clearly and professionally, both orally and in writing; 8. Operating computers and using various software applications, including Microsoft Office and financial aid management systems; 9. Managing multiple priorities and maintaining accuracy in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment; Ability to : 10. Interpret and apply complex financial aid regulations and guidelines accurately; 11. Adapt to changes in rules, regulations, and technology to ensure continued compliance; 12. Plan, organize, and implement assigned responsibilities with attention to detail; 13. Work effectively and respectfully with students and colleagues from diverse backgrounds; 14. Handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion; 15. Establish and maintain cooperative and productive working relationships across departments and with external partners.
WORKING CONDITIONS :
Sedentary-Desk work; occasional field trips e.g. for college or program activities. Minimal Hazard / Exposure-Standard office setting. At least minimal environmental controls are in place to assure health and comfort.
QUALIFICATIONS :
MINIMUM QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS :
Education : Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university
Experience : More than one year of work experience
Special Requirements : Must be in good standing on all Federal Student Loans
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS :
Experience : More than one year of work experience in a Financial Aid or Higher Education setting
