Job Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced ICU RN with at least 2 years of recent experience and a valid MO or compact RN license.
Responsibilities
Work in the ICU of a short-term acute care, Magnet-designated, Level I trauma, and teaching hospitalICU patient population includes respiratory failure, ARDS, acute chest pain, cardiac / arrhythmias, stroke, cardiac arrest, DKA, multi-organ failure, sepsis, and surgery casesPatient ratio is typically 1 : 2Unit cares for pre- and post-op cardiac, thoracic, abdominal surgeries, medicine and neuro overflow, pre- and post-transplant, and end-of-life / organ donation casesUses Epic for charting; Epic experience requiredWork schedule consists of 12-hour day shifts (4x12, 7 : 00-19 : 30), every other weekend requiredNo on-call is requiredTravelers may float within the ICU service line as neededSpecialized equipment includes IV pumps, CRRT / dialysis, ventilators / BIPAP, hemodynamic monitoring, defibrillators, and crash cartsResponsibilities include comprehensive management of critically ill ICU patients with complex, multisystem health needsNavy scrubs are requiredTravelers will support a collaborative, multidisciplinary team in a high-acuity trauma and teaching environmentHoliday and charge RN assignments possible as neededReturn to work policy requires a three-month break after 18 months of continuous assignmentMaximum of 7 days RTO allowed per 13-week contract, and no RTO during the first week of orientationPre-start modules and compliance documentation must be completed prior to startRequirements
Active MO or compact RN license requiredMinimum of 2 years recent ICU experienceCurrent certifications in BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS are requiredRequired ICU skills include dysrhythmia management, multi-system failure, 12 lead EKG / ECG, central venous pressure monitoring, Swan Ganz, blood product administration, central / PICC line management, IV initiation and maintenance, emergency medications, titrating cardiac / vasoactive drips, CVA / acute stroke management, BiPAP and ventilator care, ABG interpretation, suctioning, ventilator management, infection prevention, surgical drains / wound vac, and phlebotomyEpic EMR experience requiredFirst-time travelers are not eligibleCandidates must reside at least 75 miles from the facilityPermanent former employees must wait 1 year before returning as travelersBenefits
