College Access Mentor Database Entry

Kansas Kids@ GEAR UP is a state-wide program serving students in foster care, grades 7-12 and first year in college. The College Access Mentor Database Entry is responsible for entering all documentation, transcripts, releases and activity sheets for the regional staff!

This position is in Kansas City, Kansas and is NOT a remote position.

Job Duties :

  • Enters transcripts, program activities and any documentation to the Kansas Kids @ GEAR UP database.
  • Monitors and tracks student academic progress, graduation, enrollment in college and FAFSA completion.
  • Assists students with KKGU dual credit application, DCF tuition waiver application and credit recovery, if needed.
  • This position may be asked to help with program activities.

Required Experience :

  • Strong computer, writing, and oral communication skills.
  • Demonstrated experience in accurate data entry.
  • Knowledge of the State of Kansas foster care system.
  • Able to analyze problems and resolve conflicts.
  • Ability to manage time, deadlines and communicate document needs.

    • Preferred Qualifications :

  • Knowledge of federal and state regulations affecting low-income students and students in foster care.
  • Knowledge of the education systems and assessments in the State of Kansas.

    • Valid Driver's license needed. This position requires you to drive to different schools to pick up transcripts or grade cards. You may also be asked to help transport students.

    Physical Demands :

  • Ability to remain in a stationary position.
  • Ability to operate a computer and other office equipment including but not limited to phone, printers, copiers, and calculators.
  • Ability to communicate with others and accurately exchange information.
  • Ability to travel in a vehicle for long distances, if needed.
  • Physical Work (Medium) : Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and / or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and / or up to 10 pounds of force to constantly to move objects, files and paperwork.
  • Must be able to complete a State of Kansas Child Abuse and Neglect background check.
