Description : Position Objective
Responsible for the operation of the VMC in terms of safety, quality, delivery, cost, human resources, and production, whilst respecting the defined goals. Manage all aspects of the shift through collaborative working with other Managers and Leads for delivering, and where possible, exceeding, the key performance indicators within the operation. Strive to continually improve using the available tools to improve production and safety while reducing cost.
Essential Functions
- Accomplishes duties using safe work practices and equipment while being responsible for reporting all injuries and observed unsafe practices. Coaches employees on safe work practices as appropriate and contributes to the overall success of the company’s safety program.
- Develops, coaches, and manages performance of Process Leads, Senior Process Technicians, and Process Technicians monitoring, documenting and periodically reviewing direct reports utilizing a participative review process consistent with guidelines. Collaborates with other Process Managers to develop and track Process Leads in teaming efforts required to support operational goals. Utilizes and educates his / her team in mediation process for conflict resolution and consensus building as appropriate.
- Develops and maintains appropriate reporting mechanisms to track productivity, turnover costs, and employee readiness to meet operational requirements. Educates Process Leads and communicates progress to create and maintain awareness between daily performance and operational goals.
- Manages problem-solving related to complex equipment or process issues for his / her respective shift, involves other Process Managers related to issues that affect other shifts. Holds meetings with direct reports to share knowledge and support continuous learning for Continuous Process Improvement (CPI), Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) changes resulting from these activities.
- Assists with the administration of Progression certifications by serving as the management representative on the shift certification team.
- Participates in annual budgeting process and manages their budget throughout the year.
- Works with other managers to provide adequate leadership coverage for the VMC during operational hours.
- Participates, collaborates, and coaches Process Leads in the interview and selection process for their respective shift to build and maintain a qualified talent pool to meet Lean (safety, quality, and process) operational and strategic objectives.
- Performs related work and additional duties as needed or required.
- Works with all shift leaders and employees to ensure opportunities to enhance morale are recognized and implemented.
Education / Experience
Five to seven years’ experience in a leadership role in manufacturing / plant management. 5 years of heatset press operations is highly desirable
