Safety Manager Ii

Mortenson is currently seeking a Safety Manager II that will be responsible for providing management, leadership, direction and support within Mortenson's Zero Injury Safety program for multiple project teams and construction sites. Responsibilities include overseeing, leading, and managing the implementation of the Zero Injury Safety Program and developing site-specific safety plans across multiple project sites. The role also involves planning, leading, and managing safety program elements and initiatives, collaborating with trade partners and joint-venture partners. Additional duties include conducting and reviewing site hazard assessments, developing safety orientation content, and identifying and conducting necessary safety training. The Safety Manager II will oversee project documentation, tracking, and analysis of safety statistics, trend analyses, and OSHA reports, and lead improvement action plans. They will also monitor onsite construction activities, document deficiencies and corrective actions, and lead incident reporting, investigation, and analysis. Collaboration with Risk Management, review of project work plans, and participation in project planning and hazard analysis are part of the role. The Safety Manager II will provide direction and mentorship to Safety staff, act as a resource for safety issues, and maintain knowledge of safety standards and regulations. They will also support safety performance metrics, assist in incident response, and build relationships with diverse backgrounds and organizational levels.

Qualifications include a Bachelor's degree in safety, occupational health, or related field; or a high school diploma with CHST, OSHA 500, and 12 years of construction experience leading crews and planning work, including seven years as a dedicated construction safety professional. Minimum seven years of experience in a construction safety role or equivalent related experience is required. A Certified Safety Professional (CSP) is preferred. Valid driver's license, detail-oriented with the ability to organize and manage multiple project teams, proficiency in Microsoft Office and relevant safety software programs, strong interpersonal skills, positive attitude, professional customer service skills, and effective public speaking and presentation skills are also necessary. The ability to travel up to 100% is required.
