Position Overview

Are you extraordinarily curious? Do you have a firm grasp of financial products? Are you organized, meticulous, and thoughtful in your approach? Can you distill complex concepts into clear, user-friendly messaging for the layperson? Are you business-minded with experience in digital banking? If so, this is the perfect opportunity for you!

As the Lead UX Writer, you will be a critical part of the product design team, responsible for transforming complex financial concepts into user-friendly messaging that enhances every aspect of the customer journey. This role goes beyond writing—it’s about shaping the voice of the brand, guiding users through intuitive digital experiences, and ensuring our messaging not only improves usability but also drives engagement, trust, and satisfaction.

You’ll collaborate closely with designers, product managers, developers, and other stakeholders to craft clear, concise, and impactful messaging that solves user pain points and reduces friction. You will also own the UX writing guidelines and ensure that all content aligns with the brand’s tone and voice. By conducting user research and content testing, you’ll refine and optimize our communications, turning ordinary user experiences into extraordinary ones.

Company Overview

Our client is a fintech company dedicated to providing healthcare professionals with personalized banking and lending solutions that offer financial peace of mind. Our products include student loan repayment, forgiveness, and refinancing, as well as mortgages, personal loans, high-yield savings, and digital checking. By leveraging cutting-edge technology, tailored products, and a commitment to premium service, we create seamless and convenient experiences that help our customers achieve their financial goals.

We are a fast-growing, innovative team focused on empowering healthcare professionals with premium services, innovative solutions, and significant savings. We believe in delivering more than just banking; we deliver financial well-being with peace of mind.

Key Responsibilities

  • Transform complex financial concepts into clear, concise, and user-friendly messaging for various digital platforms, including web, mobile, and in-app content.
  • Own and evolve the UX writing guidelines: Establish and maintain clear, consistent UX content guidelines and tone of voice for all products and platforms.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally: Work with product designers, developers, product managers, marketers, and legal teams to ensure a cohesive, compliant, and user-friendly experience.
  • Ensure clarity and consistency: Apply meticulous attention to detail to create organized, thoughtful messaging that aligns with both business goals and user needs.
  • Conduct UX research & content testing: Use qualitative and quantitative research methods, such as A/B testing and user feedback, to refine and optimize content that drives user engagement and conversion.
  • Create intuitive, user-centered experiences: Help guide users through complex processes, such as student loan refinancing or mortgage applications, in a way that reduces friction and enhances the overall experience.
  • Contribute to design systems: Collaborate with designers to ensure content supports and integrates into the overall design, minimizing handoffs and streamlining processes.
  • Influence product strategy: Leverage data-driven insights to help shape the product roadmap and content strategy, driving business outcomes while maintaining a user-first approach.
  • Promote accessibility and inclusivity: Ensure all UX writing adheres to accessibility standards (e.g., WCAG) to create inclusive experiences for all users.
  • Adapt in a fast-paced environment: Manage multiple projects and shifting priorities in a dynamic and rapidly evolving setting.

Key Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in UX writing, content strategy, or related fields, particularly within fintech, digital banking, or similarly regulated industries.
  • Proven track record of simplifying complex concepts and delivering clear, user-focused messaging across digital platforms (websites, apps, etc.).
  • Portfolio demonstrating UX writing expertise, including end-to-end writing processes and examples of how you have successfully improved user experiences.
  • Cross-functional collaboration skills, with the ability to work closely with designers, developers, product managers, and marketers to ensure cohesive, user-centered messaging.
  • Strong grasp of financial products: A deep understanding of financial products (e.g., student loans, mortgages, personal loans) and the ability to communicate their benefits clearly to users.
  • UX research and testing experience: Familiarity with user testing methods, A/B testing, and using data-driven insights to improve content.
  • Ownership of content guidelines: Experience in developing and managing UX writing guidelines to maintain consistency across all platforms.
  • Excellent writing and editing skills: Impeccable grammar, attention to detail, and the ability to maintain a brand’s tone and voice while writing clear and concise copy.
  • Creative problem-solving: Ability to craft messaging that solves user pain points, simplifies user interactions, and enhances the overall product experience.
  • Technical familiarity: Experience with design tools such as Figma, Sketch, or similar, and knowledge of content management systems and A/B testing tools.
  • Soft Skills:
  • Curiosity: A desire to learn about the product, the user, and the industry to deliver more effective and engaging content.
  • Organization and meticulousness: The ability to manage and structure content in an organized way that reflects careful planning and thoughtful execution.
  • Business-mindedness: A clear understanding of the balance between supporting the user and achieving business goals.
  • Adaptability: Comfort in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple projects and deadlines, and shifting priorities as needed.
  • Collaboration: Strong interpersonal skills, working effectively with teams across departments to achieve shared goals.

Benefits

  • Competitive salary with performance-based bonuses.
  • Full medical, dental, and vision insurance coverage.
  • 401(k) plan with employer matching.
  • Generous PTO and flexible work options (3 days in-office, 2 remote).
  • Opportunities for professional growth and continuous learning.
  • Supportive, creative, and fast-paced work environment.

How to Apply

If you are passionate about crafting user-centered content, have a knack for simplifying complex financial concepts, and thrive in a collaborative environment, we’d love to hear from you! Please submit your resume, cover letter, and if selected to interview, you will share a portfolio showcasing your UX writing work.
