Brown & Brown is seeking an Employee Benefits Team Leader to join our growing team in San Antonio, TX.

The EB Team Leader will manage the day-to-day operations of the Employee Benefits department, lead a high-performing service team, and collaborate closely with sales, accounting, and carrier partners. This role requires a deep understanding of EB insurance (including medical, dental, vision, self-funded and fully insured plans), strong leadership capabilities, and a strategic mindset.

Team Leadership & Development

  • Lead and manage the EB service team, including Account Managers, Account Coordinators, and support staff
  • Conduct annual and mid-year performance reviews
  • Approve PTO, manage time sheets, and oversee team scheduling
  • Develop and implement training programs, operational workflows, and process improvements
  • Create and execute team initiatives to drive performance and efficiency
  • Negotiate bonuses, credits, and terms with carriers
  • Manage contracts with carriers and vendors
  • Ensure strong carrier relationships and market awareness
  • Support producers and sales team with RFPs, RFQs, and prospect strategy
  • Collaborate with leadership to align service and sales goals
  • Provide strategic recommendations to clients on EB programs
  • Oversee compliance with EB insurance standards and regulations
  • Serve as final escalation point for service-related issues
  • Plan and participate in seminars and industry events in conjunction with leadership

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
  • 5–7 years of experience in Employee Benefits, including health insurance and compliance
  • 3–5 years of experience managing or mentoring a team
  • Strong carrier relationships and negotiation skills
  • Proven ability to lead initiatives and drive team performance
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with a strategic approach to growth
  • Experience with financial oversight and operational planning
  • Sales experience or producer support background preferred
  • Licensure and Certifications

  • Texas Life and Health insurance license required, professional insurance designation is a plus
