Are you a compassionate and driven nursing leader ready to take the next step in your career? Excelsior Springs Hospital is seeking a Med / Surg Department Manager to lead with purpose, inspire excellence, and ensure high-quality care for our community.

This is a vital leadership role with 24 / 7 accountability for the Med / Surg Department. You’ll serve as a key representative of hospital administration in the absence of the Chief Operating / Nursing Officer, guiding your team and shaping the future of patient care.

Key Responsibilities

• Ensure safe staffing levels and align staff competency with patient acuity across all shifts.
• Lead performance improvement initiatives and monitor progress annually.
• Provide onboarding and continuing education to support staff development and compliance.
• Interview, hire, counsel, and discipline staff while fostering a respectful and professional work environment.
• Collaborate with executive leadership on budget planning and monitor departmental performance.
• Partner with physicians and leaders to evaluate and enhance nursing services.
• Maintain clinical expertise and ensure compliance with regulatory standards.
• Develop strategic goals that promote innovation and shared decision-making.
