Network Architect

We are seeking a Software Engineer to join a pivotal Cyber engineering team. This team is responsible for building new security architectures across large Naval Submarine subsystems. You will contribute to creating a common, open-architecture system-of-systems electronic design that promotes interoperability during joint operations with integrated fighting forces. Your engineering expertise will be utilized in designing the submarine's network system to establish a private cloud for edge communication.

Responsibilities

• Design, enhance, and plan computer network communications, including specifications and schematics for network architecture on multiple subsystems.
• Evaluate and make recommendations on network hardware and software selections, implementation techniques, and tools to meet tactical programmatic needs, including present and future capacity requirements.
• Monitor and maintain networks, manage configurations, provide network support and problem resolution, and conduct system performance analysis and evaluation.
• Interface with customers, developers, and support programs to ensure optimal communication flow between subsystems.
• Conduct performance and failover testing of network devices and assess their impact on system stability.
• Maintain technical expertise in network and computer hardware / software interconnection and interfaces, including firewalls, routers, switches, gateways, middleware, and OSI layer 1 / 2 / 3 / 4 functionality.
• Evaluate and recommend new technologies to enhance network system performance and monitoring capabilities.
• Perform network documentation for working group presentations and exchanges.

Work Environment

This role offers a hybrid work environment, typically requiring 3 days in the lab and 1 day from home. The team works four 10-hour days per week, providing flexibility in scheduling, though onsite presence is required when working.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $70.00 - $90.00 / hr.
