Performs sonography in accordance with applicable scope and standards of practice and with the policies, values, and mission of the organization.
Responsibilities include :
- Taking on call shift responsibilities as required by the department.
- Positioning patients and performing imaging procedures.
- Analyzing images and identifying issues with the quality of images.
- Taking appropriate action to resolve image quality issues.
- Preparing equipment and supplies.
- Selecting appropriate imaging parameters.
- Implementing safety standards and performing quality control procedures on equipment.
- Troubleshooting, resolving, and / or reporting equipment malfunctions as necessary.
- When ordered, preparing and administering contrast media and / or medications within scope of practice.
- Monitoring patient condition continually and reporting / responding to changes in status as appropriate.
- Reviewing patient history and physicians orders.
- Educating patients regarding procedures, equipment, and exam to ensure patients understanding and cooperation.
