ZTPF FILE SUPPORT ENGINEER | MAINFRAME PLATFORM & SYSTEMS ENGINEERING | REMOTE, US

Overview

Travelport is the brains behind many travel bookings. We're hiring a zTPF File Support Engineer to support the stability of the zTPF complexes by providing advanced technical expertise for the zTPF platform, operating systems, and database. The role involves leveraging past zTPF experience, growing skills toward subject matter expertise, and contributing to the development and deployment lifecycle.

How you'll make an impact

The successful candidate will be a self-motivated, analytical, proactive team member who embraces growth, problem solving, and collaboration. You will :

  • Provide beginning to intermediate level zTPF File Support for database and software development, testing, maintenance, and support
  • Leverage prior zTPF databases, systems, applications, and / or operations experience to develop zTPF file support and operating system expertise
  • Support zTPF adjacent systems, utilities, and tooling with prior open systems experience
  • Develop and maintain the zTPF mainframe platform and database, including supporting software and utilities
  • Merge and test IBM operating system releases, integrate Travelport modifications, and maintain system management utilities
  • Provide technical support interface to Travelport customers for zTPF file support functions
  • Understand relationships and impact between adjacent systems and the long-term effects of technical decisions
  • Demonstrate problem-solving and analytical skills, including use of system dump viewing tools
  • Provide operational and production support for zTPF systems, including third-level escalation and on-call support in production, pre-production, and testing environments
  • Participate in 24x7 on-call rotation as needed

Qualifications

  • Experience in technology with zTPF-related work
  • Strong technical aptitude with problem-solving and critical-thinking skills
  • Knowledge of zTPF database, file system, operating system, and programming languages (Assembler, C / C++)
  • Ability to navigate adjacent systems such as z / VM, z / Linux, and z / OS
  • Working knowledge of zTPF development and testing tools (zTPFGI, IBM Toolkit, maketpf, VPARS)
  • Knowledge of zTPF File Support components (zTPFDF, Globals, Recoup, PDU, host communications) is a plus
  • Knowledge of IBM Z hardware operation / architecture is a plus
  • Knowledge of modern zTPF capabilities (DFDL, REST, Business Events, Kafka, Java, Encryption, Jakarta Mail) is a plus
  • Additional programming languages / technologies are a plus (Java, REXX, OOREXX, Python, Perl, Linux scripting, AI / ML)
  • Knowledge of ITIL principles and processes
  • Self-motivated with the ability to multi-task in a dynamic environment
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; comfortable with customer service engagement and receptive to coaching

    • Compensation & Benefits

    Salary Target / Range : $110,000 - $125,000
