Field Engineer Switchgear Design
Company Description : Pacific Electric is a manufacturer of switchboards under UL Standard 891. We follow this standard in the design and application of the tap assemblies and certify through our drawings for full compliance of UL891 and NEC requirements.
Job Summary : The electrical engineer will work with sales staff to interpret customer drawings and specifications and develop electrical TAP system requirements, provide design drawings, calculations, and detailed TAP drawings. The electrical engineer will provide technical support to manufacturing staff and interface with vendors, technical partners, and contractors as needed to support project completion. This is a field and office position.
Job Responsibilities / Duties :
- TAP modifications to existing commercial / industrial switchboards and residential apartment multi-meter panels.
- Complete the PEI Bus TAPS Survey at jobsite service equipment.
- Open appropriate dead front covers over bus bar areas that will be tapped.
- Select and measure in detail all bus joints and sketch at least the front and top views of bus dimensions and clearances between phase bars and neutral bus. Sketch all bus and main disconnect support areas. Provide a side view on occasions where large amperage service complex bus configurations exist.
- Become familiar with Utility Standards, EUSERC, NEC, and UL891 standards and appendix G for modifications to UL labeled switchboards.
- The premise for designing code ethical TAPS is details, details, details.
- Research and provide interpretation of applicable codes and standards.
- Help with the development of all technical specifications, Bill of Materials, and associated documentation.
- Provide application support to internal and external customers.
Minimum Requirements / Experience :
Current knowledge of compliance requirements for pertinent codes, regulations, and standards to include UL891, UL1558, UL508A, NEC, NFPA, EUSERC.Demonstrated project management skills, organization / time management skills, and the ability to meet tight deadlines.Ability to travel 90%Must pass a drug screen and background check for employment.Required Education :
Bachelor of Science degree or equivalent in Electrical Engineering, or related discipline.Experience and or certifications will be considered in place of Degree.Job Benefits :
