Job Description
A warm, busy family based near Ansley Park is seeking a reliable, flexible, and kind-hearted live-in Family Assistant to support their young adult 24 yr old who has Usher Syndrome (hearing loss with cochlear implants, limited vision, and uses a guide dog). The family travels frequently between their three homes, and when they are away, the assistant will provide support for them, including transportation, grocery shopping, light cooking, laundry, and general companionship. The ideal candidate will be comfortable handling guide dog (a yellow lab), including walking and transporting the dog when necessary, as well as other dog in the home and ensuring the house is safe and secure—especially overnight when parents are away. While a car is not provided, all mileage and gas will be reimbursed. The assistant will live in a fully equipped, private carriage house on the property and must be available most nights unless previously arranged. (However when parents are in town you will have more flexibility) Responsibilities vary depending on whether the family is in town, including errand running, help with grandkids, house checks, handling vendors, as well as maintaining preventive maintenance, and staying organized with shifting schedules. The role requires someone trustworthy, easygoing, and proactive—someone who naturally steps in with a “what do you need?” attitude and can adapt to the family's changing needs. This role could suit anyone grounded, genuine, and capable of managing day-to-day responsibilities in a dynamic household. Approx. 40 hours / week, fluctuating based on family travel.
40 hours a week flexible (must stay on property at night in case of emergencies when parents are out of town.)
