GENERAL SUMMARY OF THE JOB
To catalog, store, maintain and ensure the calibration of all variable and attribute gauging equipment in the division. Required knowledge and understanding of Quality principles and procedures. Continuous Improvement of processes and products are an ongoing function of this position.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
List in order of importance the principal duties and responsibilities of the job :
- Timely compilations of gage calibrations.
- Works with Corporate Metrology Lab on the timely calibration of gages that require calibration at the Metrology Lab.
- Gage calibration will be updated and completed on the PC during the week following the compilations of each actual calibration cycle.
- Gage maintenance - Cleans, maintains and makes minor repairs on all types of manual and digital gaging equipment such as mics, calipers, tri-roll comparators, indicators and special gages. Makes minor repairs to gages, making decisions as to need for new parts or the repair by approved gage repair service. Ships gages to Corporate Metrology Lab for periodic calibration.
- Records - Maintains an accurate and complete record file on all gages, calibration dates with tractability back to N.I.S.T. Information sent to Belvidere to update computer inventory. Monitors calibration schedules for all gages and updates Supervisoron current gauge status.
- Gage Development - Recommends new additional or special gages for product not measurable with gages on hand. Devises special gages or gaging methods when required by the product for dimensions or characteristics for which gages cannot be readily purchased.
- Follows company safety rules and OSHA regulations. Wears prescribed safety equipment in carrying out work assignments and reports hazardous conditions to lead person or supervisor.
EDUCATION, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES REQUIRED
Ability to calculate read and interpret X Bar and R charts.Knowledge of lab procedures for compliance to the operations quality systems and outside accreditations. (ISO 14001, TS16949, and ISO 17025, etc.)HS Diploma, GED or relevant experience.Fluent in English (both strong verbal and written communication skills).Knowledge of gage requirements.Able to calibrate all Company and employee owned gages as required.Able to determine gage requirements based on blueprints and customer specifications.Preferred Skills & Abilities
