Senior Vice President, Investment Banking (Public Finance)

Responsibilities

  • Develop new business through direct interface with prospective clients, vendors, and associations.
  • Make presentations to management and boards of prospective clients as well as at state and national association meetings and conventions.
  • Accompany senior and associate bankers on business development and client meetings and attend association meetings, trade shows, and conventions.
  • Read and evaluate financial statements.
  • Understand, analyze, and communicate sector‑specific operations issues.
  • Coordinate the financing process with architects, contractors, market and financial feasibility consultants, lawyers, issuers and other professionals to facilitate the closing of the financings and the distribution of funds.
  • Manage day‑to‑day aspects of the financing transaction process.
  • Solicitation and negotiation of term sheets from commercial banks, as well as proposals from verification agents and trustees.
  • Interface with rating agencies to secure investment grade ratings.
  • Review legal documents to ensure appropriate delineation of key covenants and terms.
  • Coordinating calls and information flow with working group and prospective investors.
  • Draft pitch materials, RFP responses, information memoranda, and industry conference presentations.
  • Prepare presentations to guide client management and boards of directors in determining the most appropriate financing structures for their projects.
  • Post‑financing, work with client management and boards of directors to determine optimal investment and interest rate hedging strategies and assisting with continuing disclosure / investor relations and credit rating surveillance.
  • Produce and / or supervise credit analysis and the compilation of credit enhancement and rating agency packages.
  • Assemble credit information into a concise, thorough narrative report.
  • Produce high quality, accurate and insightful work while meeting short deadlines.
  • Review and analyze legal contracts such as applications, commitments, and loan and bond documents.
  • Interface with clients to obtain necessary documentation and appropriately manage the closing process with a variety of capital sources.
  • Serve as a senior investment banker on the Sims banking team and solicit clients that can utilize the array of services offered by Sims.
  • Assist in training and mentoring of associate team‑members.

Requirements

  • Minimum of ten years of experience in the finance field.
  • Experience structuring high‑yield tax‑exempt / municipal bond issues.
  • Intermediate to advanced level of expertise in Excel.
  • General working knowledge of Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Microsoft Dynamics CRM.
  • Certifications : Series SIE and 52 (or will obtain shortly after hire).
