Position Summary

The Amada CNC Operator is responsible for setting up, programming (or loading programs), running, and maintaining Amada CNC machines (e.g. turret punch, laser, press brake with CNC controls) to produce parts per specifications. The operator will monitor machine performance, perform quality inspections, and make necessary adjustments to ensure parts meet tolerances, while maintaining safety, cleanliness, and productivity standards.

Key Responsibilities

Set up and operate Amada CNC machines including (but not limited to) turret punch, laser, press brake, turret punch press, or related Amada equipment

Load / verify CNC programs or input required parameters

Align, clamp, and secure workpieces on tooling fixtures or machine bed

Monitor machines during operation and make adjustments as needed (feed, speed, tooling offsets)

Use measuring tools (calipers, micrometers, gauges) to inspect parts and ensure conformance to prints and tolerances

Review blueprints, drawings, and work orders to confirm operational steps, tooling, and dimensions

Perform preventive maintenance, cleaning, and minor repairs on machines as needed

Document production parameters, logs, and reject / inspection data

Identify opportunities for process improvement and report issues or suggestions to supervision

Adhere to all safety, quality, and housekeeping standards

Qualifications / Requirements

Required

High school diploma or equivalent (GED)

Prior experience operating CNC machines, preferably Amada or similar equipment

Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings

Strong knowledge of measuring instruments (calipers, micrometers, gauges)

Basic math skills (fractions, decimals, tolerancing)

Mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn machine setup and adjustments

Attention to detail and quality orientation

Ability to work standing for extended periods, lift up to ~35-50 lbs, bend, twist

Reliable attendance, punctuality, ability to work overtime or varying shifts as needed

Preferred

Experience specifically with Amada machines (turret punch, laser, press brake)

Experience with CNC programming or adjusting G / M code

Familiarity with GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing)

Experience in a manufacturing / sheet metal / fabrication environment

Working Conditions & Physical Demands

Manufacturing shop environment with noise, moving machinery, and potential for fumes

Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) required (safety glasses, gloves, hearing protection, etc.)

Frequent standing, walking, bending, reaching

Occasional handling of heavy material or parts (with lifting aids when available)
