Senior DevOps Engineer for AI and Cloud Modernization

About the Role

We are looking for a motivated Senior DevOps Engineer to spearhead AI and Cloud Modernization efforts for the Department of Housing and Urban Development's Office of the Chief Information Officer (HUD OCIO). In this role, you will be instrumental in designing, implementing, and operationalizing HUD's DevOps platform and cloud-native capabilities. Your expertise will support AI / ML modernization initiatives by establishing automated pipelines, containerized microservices, data pipelines, and robust cloud infrastructure. Collaboration with HUD infrastructure, operations, and AI / ML teams will be key to ensuring scalable, production-ready solutions.

This position is fully remote and supports a federal government contract that mandates a federal background check and NACI clearance. All candidates must reside within the United States.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain CI / CD pipelines using tools like Jenkins, GitLab, or Azure DevOps for software development and DevOps initiatives.
• Establish and manage automated workflows for building, testing, and deployment processes.
• Configure and maintain cloud infrastructure (AWS, Azure) to support the development of new capabilities.
• Develop and manage microservices, containerization, and declarative APIs.
• Implement data pipelines (Apache Kafka) and automated data validation routines.
• Support the maturity of architectures, technology stacks, coding standards, version control strategies, software integration points, and milestone plans.
• Embed security into DevOps workflows in coordination with the Senior Security Engineer.
• Document all processes, configuration management, and privacy / security compliance activities.
• Participate in AI / ML proofs of concept and scale pilots into enterprise-ready systems.
