Salary Range $61,500.00 - $91,875.00
This position will report directly to the Associate Director of Finance within the YSM Central Administration Units (CAU) and will be responsible for :
- Developing detailed financial analysis
- Reconciling reports for multiple cost centers within the CAU
- Organizing information from a variety of sources for use in analyzing future plans and forecasts
- Collaborating with all levels of management, both internally and externally, to gather, analyze, summarize, prepare, and present recommendations regarding financial activities
- Researching information to help resolve issues and make recommendations
- Analyzing information and creating accurate and timely reports
- Ensuring financial reporting meets the compliance needs of internal and external users
- Working with internal and external contacts to carry out department objectives
- Providing a high level of service that cultivates and maintains strong working relationships and effectively communicates information
- Taking ownership and accountability for timeliness and accuracy of information
Additionally, this position will assist in budget development, Q2 submission, monthly and quarterly monitoring for 10 departments under CAU. It will be responsible for creating and distributing monthly reports to department leaders and assisting with compliance monitoring. Conducting ad hoc reports at the request of CAU leadership team, establish internal controls in areas of assigned responsibilities. This position identifies risks and trends that enable unit and / or YSM leadership to make informed decisions and recommends improvements to systems, methods, practices, policies, and procedures through information review.
Required Skills and Abilities :
Excellent oral and written communication skills, with the ability to adapt communication styles to meet the needs of individuals at all levels within the university.Strong attention to detail, organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills. Ability to create new and complex reports for tracking, analysis, and communication of financial information.Demonstrated ability to prioritize, manage time effectively, and handle multiple tasks and deadlines. Proficiency in working independently and within a team setting.Proven proficiency in accounting principles and practices, with a thorough working knowledge of financial systems and reporting tools.Preferred Skills and Abilities :
Prior Yale business office-related or higher education experience, with a strong preference for experience with Workday Financials, YBT, Power BI, and Excel Pivot Tables.Thorough knowledge of financial reporting and analysis, as well as Yale University business, accounting, and financial policies and procedures.Principal Responsibilities :

Extracts data from multiple sources.Financial methods and systems : Recommends methods to improve practices, processes and systems. Works with internal and external contacts to carry out department objectives. Provides a high level of service that cultivates and maintains strong working relationships and effectively communicates information; takes ownership and accountability for timeliness, accuracy and relationship management.Strategic Resource : Translates unit finance objectives into priorities. Reports financial issues and risks and makes recommendations. Contacts appropriate stakeholders to include in communications and approvals.Compliance and risk management : Establishes, implements and / or maintains strong internal controls in areas of assigned responsibility to provide reasonable assurance of effective and appropriate resources use, accurate financial information, and adherence to contractual obligations and agreements, policies, procedures, and external regulatory requirements.May perform other duties as assigned.Required Education and Experience :
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business, Economics or Finance and two years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Demonstrated application of financial, accounting and economic concepts.
