Freedom Church is in a season of exciting growth, and we're looking for the right leader to build, shepherd, and scale our student ministry. We want to see hundreds of junior high and high school students walking with Jesus, leading on their campuses, and becoming the next generation of faithful disciples.
The Heartbeat of the Role
The Youth Pastor is a shepherd, leader developer, vision carrier, and ministry architect. This role leads and oversees all aspects of our junior high and high school ministries - from weekly programming to special events, from discipleship to campus outreach. You'll build systems that scale, develop leaders at every level, and create a culture where students are known, loved, and challenged to follow Jesus with everything they have.
The Big 5 (Key Areas of Oversight)
- Programming & Events
- Lead Junior High services during weekend worship and High School gatherings on Wednesday nights, plus plan special events like FutureNight, retreats, camps, and mission trips.
- Discipleship & Pastoral Care
- Invest personally in students through mentoring and spiritual direction, launch campus Bible clubs, and develop student leaders who reach their peers.
- Leader Development
- Recruit, train, and shepherd adult volunteers and small group leaders while building a leadership pipeline at every level.
- Growth & Strategy
- Set measurable goals for ministry growth and track health metrics to ensure the ministry is expanding in numbers, depth, and impact.
- Ministry Oversight
- Manage the student ministry budget, ensure child safety compliance, and collaborate with church staff to integrate students into Freedom Church's broader mission.
Success in This Role Looks Like:
- Junior high and high school students are being discipled, growing in their faith, and becoming leaders.
- Students are reaching their campuses and communities with the gospel through Bible clubs and personal witness.
- New student and adult leaders are raised up and released into ministry every semester.
- The student ministry is growing in numbers, depth, and missional impact.
- Parents feel supported and connected to what God is doing in their students' lives.
Who We're Looking For
We're seeking a spiritually mature, relational, and visionary leader with a clear call to student ministry. You have 3-5 years of experience building or growing student ministries as a Student Pastor or Associate Student Pastor. You know how to develop leaders, you're a compelling communicator, and you have a proven track record of reaching teenagers with the gospel. You're equally comfortable on stage teaching, in a coffee shop mentoring a student, or in a planning meeting designing systems that help the ministry scale.
Key Qualities
- Clear call to student ministry with deep personal walk with Jesus and alignment with Freedom Church's mission and values
- 3-5 years as a Student Pastor or Associate Student Pastor with proven track record of building or growing student ministries
- Develops leaders at every level-students and adults-and champions multiplication and leadership pipelines
- Warm, emotionally intelligent, and able to connect deeply with students, parents, and volunteers
- Sets clear goals, builds sustainable systems, teaches engagingly, and manages multiple projects with creativity
- Biblical/theological training (degree preferred or equivalent ministry experience)
- Willing to work evenings, weekends, and travel for events and camps
Preferred (But Not Required)
- Experience launching or leading campus ministries or Bible clubs
- Familiarity with church plants or growing churches
- Biblical/theological training (degree/bible college preferred or equivalent ministry experience)
