A growing ecological restoration team is seeking a motivated Field Leader to oversee hands-on implementation work across natural areas, working farms, and conservation properties throughout the Mid-Atlantic. This is a field-based leadership role with direct impact on project success and ecological outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead field crews (typically 2–6 people) in safe, efficient, and high-quality restoration work
- Execute daily project tasks including planting, invasive species removal, site preparation, erosion control, and light construction
- Coordinate daily logistics, equipment, and materials with Project Management
- Provide clear communication on site conditions, crew performance, and progress updates
- Train and mentor crew members in restoration techniques, tool use, and safety protocols
- Ensure accurate implementation of plans, specifications, and ecological standards
- Maintain a professional presence when interacting with landowners and partners
Qualifications
1–3 years of field experience in ecological restoration, forestry, landscaping, agriculture, or constructionPrior leadership experience strongly preferred (crew lead, foreperson, or similar)Working knowledge of native plants, ecological processes, or restoration methodsComfortable working long days outdoors in variable weather and terrainAbility to lift 50+ lbs and operate hand tools, power tools, and small machineryValid driver’s license with a clean driving recordCompensation & Benefits
