American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med / Surg position requiring at least 2 years of experience and active ACLS, BLS, and PALS certifications.
\n \n Responsibilities\n
Work in a 19-bed Med / Surg unit within an acute care hospitalNights shift from 7 : 00 PM to 7 : 30 AM, with every other weekend requiredCare for patients with CHF, diabetic complications, pneumonia, COPD exacerbations, orthopedic injuries, and post-op surgical cases including TURPs and joint replacementsPediatric patients may be occasionally presentNurse-to-patient ratio is typically 1 : 5 on nightsAdvanced respiratory care equipment available including CPAP, BiPAP, and high flow oxygenTelemonitoring is provided, with tele strips read by CCU staff and visible to Med-Surg nursesCommon titratable drips include heparin and bumex, with infrequent titration requiredOrientation provided for 3-6 shifts, extended if neededNavy blue scrubs requiredResponsibilities include caring for a diverse Med / Surg and occasional pediatric population, including both chronic and post-op casesCharge Nurse and House Supervisor support available on all shiftsTeam includes 1-3 CNAs during the day and 1 CNA overnightFloating expected as 'helping hands' to other departments if not fully cross-trainedHoliday coverage is negotiableIf on low census, must be able to report within 30 minutes if called inFirst-time travelers will be considered for this position\n \n Requirements\n
Active OR or Compact RN license by assignment startAt least 2 years recent Med / Surg nursing experienceCurrent ACLS, BLS, and PALS certifications requiredGeneral medical-surgical skills and standby for general pediatric patient careExperience with MEDITECH 5.66 charting is preferredCopy of driver’s license required for considerationTwo professional references : one supervisor from the past 12 months and one from a supervisor or peer within the last 3 years\n Benefits\n
