Purpose

Provide professional project management and leadership on multiple large, complex healthcare and / or higher education academics. Direct design professionals, construction managers, and various engineers, equipment providers, inspection agencies, and other required professionals to meet project goals and successful project execution.

Duties

  • Manage the planning, design and execution of major capital projects by providing project leadership, communication, coordination and conflict resolution.
  • Develop project plans that include schedule, budgets, and resource allocation.
  • Support institutions in pre-project planning activities, including Capital Improvement Plan preparation, budgeting, and approval processes.
  • Manage project from initiation through completion of construction and occupancy. Responsible for project budget, schedule, and procurement of design, construction and ancillary services.
  • Drive progress of consultants to achieve expected functionality; and recommend alternatives to recover negative drift.
  • Facilitate timely decisions by campus representatives and report progress and issues impacting the project goals to stakeholders.
  • Ensure design and construction documents comply with project requirements. Facilitate timely review of contract documents by engineers and consultants at all phases of the work.
  • Advocate for the client in contract negotiations. Develop, review, and approve design and construction contracts, changes, technical service contracts, Guaranteed Maximum Price submittals, bid documents, pay applications, etc.
  • Apply project control processes to track progress, mitigate risks, and to assure compliance with client rules and regulations and applicable State and Federal statutes.
  • Primary project liaison with client leadership, campus staff, facility user groups, operations and administration during design and contract administration to ensure timely input, manage expectations, resolve conflicts and facilitate decisions.
  • Collaborate with other colleagues to initiate and develop process improvements.

Education

Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Engineering or Construction Science or a technical degree in Construction Management preferred. Licenses, Registration, or Certifications : Licensed Engineer, Registered Architect or Certified Construction Manager (CMAA).

Qualifications

Must have 10 years project management experience with 5 years most recent in healthcare construction projects.
